Kremlin: Govt controls food price situation, situation difficult
MOSCOW, Aug 24 (PRIME) -- The Russian government controls the food price situation, but the situation is difficult, spokesman for the president Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday.
"The government controls the price situation indeed. A direct order was made by the president. As you know, (President Vladimir) Putin himself said that. Prices are growing for two reasons -- some processes in the foreign situation and some local problems. The government is addressing both," Peskov said.
Deputy Prime Minister Viktoria Abramchenko earlier held a meeting with the regional authorities on accessibility of vegetables, and prices for socially significant staples. After that, she gave orders to prepare measures to cut food transportation prices to the ministries.
